About Us

At Robots & friends, we believe that science should never be exclusive. It’s something to explore, create and enjoy for people of all ages, backgrounds, and interests.

Our biggest commitment lies in breaking down the barriers that have traditionally prevented many to shape science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics, making it accessible through creativity, play, and hands-on experimentation.

We design learning experiences and creative resources that invite curiosity from all walks of life — from child-led experiments and story-based learning to hands-on builds, both in-person and virtual, that encourage you to explore your environment on a deeper level of understanding.

Beyond the classroom, we collaborate with startups, schools, events, museums, and artists to bring ideas to life through rapid prototyping and creative engineering. Our work extends into innovation management for teams and organizations seeking momentum without the weight of overloaded bureaucracy, as well as competitive robotics programs that turn learning into teamwork, problem-solving, and discovery, connecting you to a world wide community built on the maker mentality.

Every project, whether a class, a prototype, or a partnership, follows the same principles: accessibility, sustainability, and collaboration. We design for repairability, reuse, and low power consumption and we value materials literacy — understanding not just how something works, but how it lives in the world.

Robots & friends is about building spaces that practice collaboration, agency, and belonging.
Access over gatekeeping, every step of the way.

There’s a place in STEAM for everyone.
You too - promise.

Philosophy

Founder, Maker, Speaker & Educator

Blending art, technology, and engineering, Moorlyn builds bridges between imagination and invention. With a background in Circus Arts and Set Design, she’s always worked with her hands, creating spaces, stories, and objects that move people to look closer and think twice.

Through trial and error, she taught herself the fundamentals of engineering and technology. That curiosity grew into a practice of creative engineering, where ideas become prototypes and stories become machines. Along the way, Moorlyn expanded her knowledge through courses in Rapid Prototyping at Arizona State University and Space Psychology, Space Architecture and Design at the Swiss Institute for Disruptive Innovation, shaping a perspective that connects innovation, community, and accessibility.

As self-taught builder, educator, and international speaker, Moorlyn has guided world-championship robotics teams, led interdisciplinary workshops, and helped startups, museums, schools and artists bring ambitious concepts to life. She earned a Speaker’s Certificate at the WomenTech Global Conference and has delivered talks as well as hands-on sessions such as Emotional Engineering and Collaborative Prototyping at the Female’s FavourIT Conference.
Her practice follows the belief that innovation works best when it’s intersectional, sustainable, and collaborative - in short: for everyone.

Mono

Meet Mono, the nine-year-old dog and official mascot of Robots & friends!
Not only does she bring joy and wagging tails to the team, but she also puts “& friends” in our company name, as she has a way of making everyone feel like they`re part of the pack. Mono is a trained Emotional Support Animal and knows how to behave in classroom situations, which makes her the perfect furry friend to help us learn and grow.

Ever wondered who else is hiding behind “friends”?
Say Hi and learn more about some of the amazing individuals who make up our diverse friend group!

  • Julia Rost, known as Jules, originally studied marketing and has a background in mental health peer counseling. At Robots & friends, she combines her passions for coding, neurodivergent learning, and creativity. Jules guides our students in exploring technology and creative problem-solving, showing them that learning is a personal journey. She encourages them to embrace their individuality and discover their unique ways to shape the future.
